Meet The Team

Esmeralda Quintero will graduate in Spring 2025 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Systems Science. She is passionate about California’s natural resources, with a particular interest in soils and plants. Esmeralda has been working with me since 2024 and is now a leader of our monkeyflower team.

Emily Solorio is a current third year student at UC Merced, majoring in Environmental Systems Science and minoring in Management and Business Economics. She began volunteering in the Sexton Lab in Spring 2023 and currently leads data collecting on our monkeyflower research and works on an independent project exploring pollination ecology of Limnanthes douglasii ssp rosea. She is currently exploring her own research interests and hopes to pursue a graduate degree in the future.

Charles graduated from UC Merced in 2024 and is currently working as a post-bacchelor leading projects in the lab. 

Rheanna is an Environmental Systems Science major and will be graduating in Spring 2025. She has been collaborating with me since 2023 to survey the pollinator community in the Merced Vernal Pool and Grassland reserve. She has bee instrumental in hand-net, pan trap, pinning, and bee identification methods. Rheanna plans to go to graduate school to obtain her masters.

Selina is a Biological Science major emphasizing in ecology and evolution, and will be graduating in Spring 2025. She has been collaborating with me since 2023 to survey the pollinator community in the Merced Vernal Pool and Grassland Reserve. Selina plans on going to veterinary school. 

Isabel graduated from UV Merced in 2024 with a B.S. in Biological Science emphasizing in ecology and evolution. She is currently working as a bachelor field assistant with me on collecting data on our monkeyflower project, and she assists in pollinator surveys. She has been working with me since 2023 and has been an outstanding leader with my projects.
